Statement

The emblem is a centuries-old, fixed strategy of assembling words and pictures. Its unique format offers a (surprisingly) discursive and highly subjective field of interpretation, for both viewer and maker. Like their 16th century predecessors, the emblems here are a record of the views and happenings from a particular time in history—ours.
